Open Question: Best rod/reel for all-around/trout fishing rod & reel setup (spinning)?

I'm looking for a new versatile rod/reel (SPINNING) setup for mostly small to large lakes and reservoirs, most of which have a variety of fish species including bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, trout, etc. (though i mostly seek trout and bass). The tackle i use primarily consist of in-line spinners and spoons. Almost all the time i use at least 1/4 oz lures with 6-10 lb test flourocarbon line depending on where im going. My buddy can get me cost on pretty much all of the major brands (quantum, shimano, st. crioux, abu garcia, okuma, etc.) and i would like to get a higher-end setup since i rarely change gear...i used the same rod/reel for 7 years and its finally getting a bit old for my taste. I already have a decent casting setup so im gonna take this opportunity to upgrade my spinning gear. I've had my eye on the Quatum Smoke line so if anyone has used that i'd love to hear your opinion. Your opinions will be appreciated BTW i live in the S.W. Idaho area

Open Question: What is the cheapest type of boat to fish the Mississippi River?

Hi. I would like to purchase a boat to fish the Mississippi River in Burlington Iowa, but something no frills cheap. Well maybe a few frills. LOL Below are what I'm looking for in a boat. Would like to tow it with a car. Needs to support two big guys, fish, and gear. Like at least 600 Pounds I guess. Want to use it to fish a variety of fish, but I guess my main fish is catfish. Right now I only fish from the shore. I want to use it to set out bankpoles and trotlines. I want it to be able to use a trolling moter as well as a big one. I'm not looking for a speedboat, but I don't want to move super slow. I want to be able to go up and down the river at a decent enough speed. It can be very rough and tumble as I could care less how it looks. I know nothing about boats. I don't even know if I need a moter that is 10hp, 40hp, or 140hp. I want to know what kind of boat to buy, how much it would cost, MINUS the moter, but maybe you could tell me what power of moter to look for next. Does this all make sense? Thanks for any info.

Voting Question: Are OceanCity fishing rods any good? Abu Garcia reel too.?

I found an Ocean City fishing rod in my garage and I was wondering if anyone knew if this is a decent rod to use on my next outing. I haven't fished in a while so I am trying to get my gear back in order but I don't remember where I got this one. It is an Ocean City NO. BR54-6', 2 sections. It has an Abu Garcia Ambassedaur 6500 high speed reel as well. The whole setup looks rather old, so I would have to restring it and do a little polishing. Any info on this setup would be awesome, as I can't find too much info online about it. Thank you in advance!!

Ok I don't know if any of you live in NYC but I get my fish gear from a place called Petqua. Well about 2 weeks ago I asked them to order gobies and every day I call them since then and every day they tell me it will arrive the next day (besides weekends) This is so frustrating. My friends all ask me if they arrive since I tell them "TODAYS THE DAY!" and then I have to tell them an awkward "no." I'm also leaving in 5 weeks for 2 months so if it comes during the 2 months it will definitely be sold out, and then it will take forever again for them to come. Resolved Question: What kind of fish are there in the Potomac around Great falls until Scotts Run?

I am a southern bass fisherman by heart and I just moved here to northern VA. I went fishing at Scott's Run and Great Falls a little bit but did not see a whole lot. What kind of fish are around there? Bass, trout, or what? It seems a little fast for what I am use to. I would not mind fishing for either one but I need to know what type of gear to get for the best results. I do not want to fish for bass all day when there are not a whole lot out there or the same for trout. Basically what is the main fish out there in the river? Also any advice on what type on lures or color of worms would be a great help. Thanks
